Fare type sets the rate
The ladder runs from Economy Light at the bottom, through Economy Classic, Economy Delight and Premium, to Upper Class at the top — and the gap between the ends is large. A cheap Economy Light ticket can earn very little, which is worth knowing before treating a headline fare as a bargain.
Status multiplies it
- Red — the base rate.
- Silver — 30% more points on Virgin Atlantic and Virgin Atlantic Holidays bookings.
- Gold — 60% more.
Because the multiplier applies to the base earn, status is worth most to people already buying expensive cabins. Sixty per cent of an Upper Class earn is a large number; 60% of an Economy Light earn is not.
Exact percentages vary by fare and change from time to time, so rather than reprint numbers that will drift, use Virgin's own earning calculator for a specific flight. Partner airlines — Delta, Air France, KLM and the wider SkyTeam group — earn at their own rates.
